was recently searching for polaroid cameras as I was becoming interested in the classy look they give..
On searching I realized that actually the cameras are no longer being produced.. The company "Polaroid" has stopped the production of the revolutionary instant photograph printing cameras due to the impractical costs of the films.
The films also used to have a very small life of about 1 year .. that too when preserved.
But that was the beauty.. the exposure those films gave, the colours, the hue, the shades and highlights.. awesome !! The wait to see them get exposed and get coloured is just SO worth it !!
I am a fan of polaroids.. But i could just find some old cameras.. second hand on sale.. along with the old classic polaroid films.. Some companies are apparently still producing the films to keep the classic going..
I guess the films at some particular time by some company have become collector's pride.. They are THAT classic and antique.. i would surely want to own one of those man !!
Check out www.polapremium.com
(Apparently the link is broken currently but i hope it comes back soon)
They have got everything on Polaroid photography ..
I also came across The Impossible Project - Re-inventing instant film for vintage Polaroid cameras..
The whole project is aimed at recreating new films for the vintage polaroid cameras which have less waiting time..
I was amazed to see that there is so much happening in the world to preserve this vintage class of photography, that now even I wanna help in preserving it.
So taking a feeble step in that direction I used Poladroid software (its very cool and trendy to use) to see what magic these polaroid cameras once created...
